Online Standardized Patient Experience

Please schedule an appointment with your assigned Patient Scenario below. You will conduct a telehealth visit and receive immediate feedback from the Standardized Patient, as well as a follow-up scorecard with a link to your recorded session.

SP assignments were emailed to you by Michele Bordelon - please select the correct scenario. If you have questions, email mbordelo@odu.edu.

This exercise will take approx. 30 minutes

It will be comprised of:

A 15-20 minute roleplay

10 minutes of verbal feedback

The patient is an 18-year-old concerned about worsening abdominal pain over the past 6 months. This is an ongoing relationship, but you have not seen this patient regularly. This is the first telehealth visit for this patient.

Behavioral Health Visit - Anxiety/Depression

The patient is a college student who initiated this virtual encounter due to increasing anxiety and depression. In the past, they have had counseling services by the group that this provider practices. The patient is very comfortable with telehealth and has had multiple visits virtually over the last several years. The practice is a Behavioral Integrated Care Practice.

A 20 year old concerned about an ankle injury

Patient is a 20-year-old concerned about ankle pain. The patient is otherwise healthy but thinks they may have injured their ankle jogging. The provider should focus their assessment on the ankle injury.

Preoperative Visit for Exploratory Laparoscopy

The patient is scheduled for laparoscopic surgery in 2-weeks. This is a preoperative assessment and preparation for surgery. This is a visit to determine whether the patient is fit for surgery.
